"The Brig" in December?
Hello all, after a first-time trip to Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge this summer, I'm thinking about going there again in a few weeks--because it is user-friendly on me, because of the wide array of shore birds last time, and just as a close-by getaway.

Now, I certainly hope the "green flies" (correct name??) are gone by now... but I was wondering as a non-expert, since migration season must surely be over, what kind of birding can I expect??

Any comments are welcome and thank you.

While I lived in NJ 1970-1994 I made hundreds of visits to Brig. I never found it all that great of a place for bird photography - there was seldom anything close enough to the dyke roads for good shooting. But if you go now before there's a big freeze you should be able to find large flocks of Snow Geese, and among the many thousands of them you can look for the very few Ross' Geese that sometimes accompany them.

There's also a good chance of a Bald Eagle, and usually there are Peregrine Falcons around. We also looked for Short-eared Owls. But these are always difficult subjects at Brig.

Thanks Richard!! I know what you mean about the birds being far away--I was ill-prepared to capture many shots I could have.

But since I may be down there anyway, I will make the trip over I would think.
