Distribution channel: digital images

I have been wrestling with the issue of setting up a website whose purpose is to market some of my images. There are two main forms of doing this: selling prints, and licensing the use of digital images. I already know of a service (Imagekind) which can provide an automated marketing back-end for the sale of prints. As for digital images, I am really impressed with the elaborate, thorough system that Corbis uses, but it is only open to Corbis members and thus images syndicated there cannot casually be linked to from an outside website. Is there any work-around to this, or anyone providing a similar service that is more open to the public, or, failing that, any easy way of building such capability independently into a website?

I use a customized Photoshelter archive to host my online archive. Others use Lightbox Photo.
