I will be spending Xmas and a few days either side with my son-in-laws parents who live in Windham, Maine. It would be good to try and photograph a little of the local wildlife during my stay and wondered if anyone might be able to suggest any good locations!

Regards
David

Hi David,
At that time of the year the most likely thing would be to focus on shore birds. Dependiong on the seasonal temperature you can see anything from a king eider on down. Good place the shore birds are the beaches around Wells, Maine. You will also find a good number of birds that stay the winter in New England and they can be found almost anywhere you find a bird feeder. All of this would require a long lens. Otherwise if you head north and a bit west into the western Maine mountains you will find lots of nice "snowscapes" and there is always a chance to see a moose.

Hi Jim

Thanks for the info - Claire & John do live out of town and feed the birds so I'm sure I will get a few interesting species there and they also have wild turkey that come to food at the edge of their garden!
