I drove through the Moose River Plains last Thursday on the return trip from seeing the National Watercolor Exhibit at the Old Forge Art Center (continues through Oct 4th & highly recommended). Color was spotty, peak some areas and just beginning in others. Here are two views, the first from my favorite spot along the Moose River Plains Rd. and the second from the Cedar River Rd.

Addendum: It won't let me attach 2 photos and I can't add another for 24 hours. Y'all will have to wait. Maybe I won't bother.
We plan staying in the Paradox Lake area this coming weekend staying up for 4 days or so; will travel up to Lake Placid etc. Blue Mt Lake etc. - can you give me any info as to color?
How accurate will the NYS DEC Fall Color Report????

Okay, Here's another try on adding the second shot using Jim Salge's suggestion.
To JMM, The DEC page is only updated once a week as far as I can tell so they are "projecting" but I agree that the Old Forge and Inlet areas will probably be at peak this week. A friend in Vermontville tells me it has already peaked around him and he expects the Keene Valley area to have good color next week.
