Many thanks to all of you who contributed to the success of this trip. I had a wonderful 3 days, and wholeheartedly wished for many more. A future trip that is more concentrated, earlier in the season is definitely planned. I photographed almost no wildlife (some swans, a couple of sandpipers, a willow ptarmigan and some northern shrikes), but I have more landscape shots than I know what to do with.
As always, Alaska showed her wild and unpredictable side, but after 7 trips to your lovely state, I tend to take Alaska as it offers itself. I remember one summer trip where it rained for 10 days straight! On a previous trip to Denali, the mountain poked one lower shoulder out of the clouds, and that is all I saw of her. I also saw moose dots, bear dots, Dall sheep dots, and one caribou that walked right in front of the bus!
Here is my male willow ptarmigan. He wandered out in the middle of the road, and wouldn't move. I took a ton of shots, most of which were lousy. The bird didn't move until he was right at the front of the car, then took off like a shot.
