Hi John! These puffins are great!! I think the light is a bit harsh but otherwise fun!

It was a great trip. A little crowded with 4 people in the blind. Two were always moving around banging into everyone, trying to use un-needed 500mm lenses.
Here is a 2 photo series, "I said JUMP!"

Great shots, Puffins are a favorite of mine. How did you capture these images. Just curious about lens f stop, etc. Thanks Jeff

Hi Jeff, all of these were taken with my old Cannon 20D using a 70-200mm non-is.
The last two (in series) were at 170mm 1/1000 f/9. I did have a 300mm with a 1.4X but really did not need it in the blind I was in. There was someone with a 500mm, but he wasted most of his time trying to get positioned in the tiny windows.
The new one with the fish, was 135mm 1/2000 f/9. There were very few puffins bringing back fish that day (July 10), as few eggs had hatched yet. About 7-10 days behind schedule due to the weather this spring.

John, those are great images, the light was perfect, and the Puffins just make me smile. It's interesting you shot at a high iso and still got incredibly crisp images. I'm heading for Rocky Mountain National Park in two weeks to shoot the elk rut. I'll be using a 30D with the 100-400mm is canon lens. Cheers. Jeff

Hi Jeff good luck with the Elk!
I just saw I never put the iso used, I used iso 200 for these photos.
