Hi Mark! I saw this this morning but had no time to comment. I like this...ALOT!! Love the monotone FG and BG and the white stands right out. I think you could crop off some of the top and still have good comp. There seems to be a bit of a seam(?) running along the top half from top left to the right. I do wish it was a bit sharper but no problem there. Did you get several shots?

Thanks Chris. I have a long sequence of this bird from flight images to large in the frame - I had a very productive couple of hours with it.
I can't see the 'seam' in the top half, where do you mean? When you say sharper, do you mean the bird or the reflection?
Hey Mark, when I said sharper, I meant the bird itself. It seemed soft along the edges of him but I see some noise there. And I know nothing about noise really. (Wish I did... )
As far as the seam, it starts about an inch below the copyright mark and follows a squiggly diagonal direction to the right. It looks kind of like a mountain range on raised topo map. (To me anyway.) Maybe I'm the only one to see it. It's definitely not my screen because it stays on the photo when I scroll up or down. Hmmm... Curious.
How long are you staying here? For some reason I thought you had headed back to the UK.

Thanks Chris, it sounds like your monitor is showing some posterisation in the upper secion of the image - I have checked it on 2 LCDs and 2 notebooks and can't see any sign of it...nor any 'noise' around the bird
Anyone else seeing this?
We head back to the UK in April after an excellent 32 months over here.

I can't see anything wrong with this image at all. Doesn't seem soft to me either. There's something about the image I can't quite put my finger on - maybe the composition is a touch off?
Well, it must be time to look into a new monitor I guess? Sorry Mark for making you look everywhere for the seam. I don't know what posterisation is if anyone can explain.
But regardless, I still enjoyed your image Mark. Are you excited to go back home? Did you enjoy your time here? You'll still visit us...online?

Thanks Marcus - the NENP forum is a long way from home for you...
We very much enjoyed our time over here, made some good friends (mainly through NPN) and will miss fall and proper winters a lot...I hate heat and humidity...so I won't miss the summers

No problem Christine and thank you for commenting. Here is a good article on posterisation- http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/posterization.htm.
