This was taken this 12/27 (Happy Birthday to Me!) down in Homer. We lucked out every morning, mostly clear skies - with just enough cloud cover to give some great color/texture. Good times. Here's the nitty gritty:
1/4000 f/6.3 (I wanted to maintain sharpness throughout the eagles body)
180 mm focal length (wanted to leave a little open space, so I didn't zoom to fill the frame)
- 1/3 EV
ISO 800
Aperture Priority (looking back, if I were to do more of this type of shot, I would have shot in manual and just metered for the sunrise).
I like it; it's different from the usual eagle shots, I like how the wingtip feathers are in this and the whole silhouette stands out really nicely. Nice color in the sky, too. How come I never see color like that down there? My only nit? I'd like the dark mountains along the bottom to not have that little break right there under the "y" in Photography. How's that for picky?

Yeah, we actually got lucky with nice sunrise colors all 4 days... they were brief, but nice colors. I didn't notice the break in the mountains until you mentioned... now it sticks out like a sore thumb. I checked the original file, it's cropped slightly from at the top, but just a little, and the bottom is as you see it... so there's no recovering more mountain tops, oh well. I guess it doesn't change the image for me, but I do appreciate your feedback - thanks for responding!
