I have a Sigma 500mm f/4.5 lens. Just recently, my auto focus stopped working. The battery is fully charged and the lens is switched to AF. I shoot with a Canon 1D Mark2 and my other lenses work fine on the camera. I tried cleaning the contacts as well.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Dan,
Good moring. I had a similar problem with my SIGMA DG MACRO 28 – 300 on a Canon XTi. After doing what you did and taking it off & on the camera several times it started working again.
It has not happened since and I was not able to figure out what happened. I know that this does not help you much. When you find out let us know & good luck.

Thanks Fred. I tried playing with the focus and then it started working again. Very strange. I have had the lens for about 5 years now and it has been very reliable.
Yep, I had the same thing happen to me, using the 500 Sigma for Sony, so it is not a camera specific problem. Finally started working again. Now I am scared to change from AF to MF Another thing I find about these lenses are that they are so slow in AF, so sometimes I need MF.
