Want to poll what is your favorite lenses for your landscape photography. I do a lot of beach and park photography, usually carry 2 lenses for landscape photography. For beach landscape/sunset, I carry 24-70mm and 100-400mm. 100-400mm for close-up of the sun when it's not too bright, and 24-70mm for images when the reflection and/or the cloud look great.
I usually have my Canon 10-22mm and the 28-105mm for most of my landscapes.

Hi!
I still use Sigma EX 50-500 for my misty mornings photos. It offers almost the perfect balance between quality and flexibility. I also use Sigma EX 70-200/2.8, especially in the cases where I need "more light" and the small deep of field is essential to create proper mood on the photo.
I use Pentax 16-45 for wide angle landscape. But I find the resolution wanting for panoramas. As an alternative I use Sigma 50-500 in 50mm focal length to shoot series of vertical shots and stitch them together. I intend to buy a 50mm prime lens to do the same in future as the resolution of 50mm prime lenses are better than 50-500 zoom.

My workhorse for landscapes is Canon's 24mm ultrasonic. Truly great glass.

This is almost like asking, what is your favorite color? It goes without saying the best lens to shoot with is the one you have on your camera. Make the best with what you have.

You also consider what the crop factor is for the camera the lens is used on. My next lens purchase will be the Canon 10-22 for landscapes since my 24-105 really doesn't give me the wide angle I need on my 1.6 crop factor camera whereas on a FF camera it might be adequate and extreme on a 4x5--LJP
About 70-80% of my landscape pictures are coming from the Tokina ATX-Pro 12-24 f4. That's the sharpest lens currently available on the market for that focal length range, and it performs perfectly also on the highly demanding 15.1 MP sensor of the new 50D.
Beside this lens, I started enjoying again the Zeiss lenses I kept from my old 35mm Contax system, particularly the Planar 50 1,4 and Distagon 28 2,8. Those are without doubts the sharpest lenses I have.

The vast majority of my landscapes are taken with the Tokina ATX 12-24. I've been very happy with this lens. After the 12-24 I would say I use my Nikkor 70-200 next for more intimate landscape scenes, and finally my Nikkor 28-70 for panos and leafscapes, etc. Breakdown is probably 85%, 10%, and 5% respectively.

Uh - whichever lens best fits the scene?
I've been using my Tokina 12-24 a lot lately, but it doesn't replace my consumer Nikon 28-105...

I shoot Canon 20D and 50D. My favorites are Canon 24-70 and 10-22 depending on the scene - love 'em both!

Not to hijack this thread but to those using the Tokina 12-24, have you also looked at the Tokina 11-16? It seems to be getting pretty good reviews and is a little newer vintage than the 12-24--Larry

Larry,
I couldn't give you a good reason why I'd go look at the 11-16 as a current 12-24 owner. The 12-24 is one of the better lenses I've had the privilege of using and fits into most lens lineups better than the 11-16 would. Perhaps if I had a need for the f/2.8...

For my Canon 50D I have three lenses:
Sigma 10-20, Tamron 17-50 f/2.8,and a Canon 70-200L f/4 IS
The Sigma and Canon are my favs. The Tamron is a good fast lens but I prefer the wider or longer views with the other two.
My default lens is the 10-20mm.

I love my Tokina 12-24. Although it's not all that versatile. I like my Nikon 18-200 for its ability to be used on a variety of situations, but I seriously love that 12-24. That being said, the 11-16 came out after I bought my 12-24. Given the choice now, I would go for the 11-16, because I would love to have that 2.8 for night sky shots. If I could sell the 12-24 for anything near what I paid for it, I would happily sell it for the 11-16.

I thought I had pretty much settled on the Tokina 12-24 for use with my 50D until I started reading reviews about the Tokina 11-16. In every review I have read the 11-16 beats out the competition hands down, especially in the optics area, which with the 50D seems to be the most demanding feature. It doesn't have the range of the Canon 10-22 or Tokina 12-24 but I think that the wider end of the range is what I need plus its provides F2.8 over the range. I have a Canon 24-105 that I use as my general use lens. Any suggestions, comments, revelations or first hand experience would be appreciated--Larrry
