Let's see what we got and what we missed this summer and fall.
Missed it: Northern Goshawk eating a snowshoe hare on Chena Hot Springs Road. Too slow, too slow, too slow.
Nailed it: Spruce Grouse.

Criminy, I'll have to really think to come up with something I "nailed" this summer!! It seems like all I saw was PEOPLE !!!
On the other hand......
Missed it: Wildflowers. Zero Jacob's Ladders, and zero wild iris. Also missed the great foggy mornings on various lakes in August.

Ironically, I created more great images this year than any year to date, even with the terrible weather.
I did miss these great ice caves. Discovered them in June, went back in August and they had almost totally vanished.

Missed it: The alpine color on the Grandchild Peaks. I was a third of the way up there after getting off work the other day before I came to the conclusion that night was going to make it to treeline before I ever was.
Nailed it: The birth of my daughter. I'm not prolific with the baby photos, but there are enough to outweigh all the opportunities that presented themselves outside while I've been busy.
Kent, Congratulations on the new editionI Enjoy photographing her now because as soon as she realizes that you have a camera, she will not allow you to take any meaningful photos, as soon as the camera comes out, my son stops all activity and heads straight for it
Congrats, Kent! Yeah, I agree with Carl; take pictures while you can. She'll grow up fast.
Carl, I'm glad someone got a bunch of great images this summer. We had company during July and couldn't get away from the crowds, and I swear I've never seen so many tourists.
Oh yeah, MISSED: Moose calves! We had tons of bear tracks through the yard, but didn't see a moose calf until August, when they were pretty big. All the moose have moved to town....

Missed it: Fireweed north of Fairbanks. Was headed that direction on a long weekend when some wheel bearings decided that they wanted to crap out. Was stuck in Fairbanks for the weekend.
Missed it: A HUGE double rainbow over the Susitna. Wind (and rain) was blowing towards me and I didn't have a single image that didn't have drops on the lens despite my best shielding and wiping efforts.
Nailed it: Spring grizzly in the snow.
Now I'm just waiting for some blue sky so I can go out and get some snow scenes before it gets too cold for easy camera operation.

Hey Jim,
Missed it: Summer. :)
Nailed it: sinking thru the ice on a small pond last week, up to the knees. Brrrr!
