I read a few posts on Nikonians that there may be a new Nikon 70-200 lense in the works. Anyone have any concrete news on this ?

I thought that might explain why the lense is on backorder at many of the more popular sellers like B and H.

Well, nope, I don't have any news. However, the comments made by Bjorn Rorslett in his 70-200 VR-on-D3 review suggest that a new lens is urgently needed for those who shoot on FX bodies.

I was at B and H Photo today in New York. They told me that Nikon is working on an improved version of this lense. They could not provide any type of production schedule. FYI

The current 70-200 produces major vignetting with FX sensor, especially at longer focal lengths., but it's superb on the DX.
