Carl, how exciting to see this new forum based upon the real "last frontier". I hope to return to this beautiful state someday to take in the sites, and of course do some photographing too. I have some fond memories from the two years that I traveled the entire state working on all the DEW line stations. Good luck to all the "locals" who become part of the forum here and we lower "48ers" will check in from time to time also.

I can't wait to see all the great images that will come from this site. I'm sure we will all be asking questions on places to see and shoot in the last frontier. I wish you blessings with this forum!
Carl,
Count me in with all group emails. Having an Alaska forum sounds particularly relevant, people who understand our challenges and assets. Thanks for getting it started.

Thanks for initiating this forum, Carl! Are you working with Jim to get it listed in the main menus? So far the only way to find it is to search for your announcement in the discussion forums.

Good to see activity in the Alaska forum! I will be adding the forum to site navigation this weekend.

Thanks for hooking us up with a link, Jim. It looks like it's going to take us a while to figure how to make this a thriving forum even with easy access. I've never been part of a regional forum, so I'm not completely sure how they grow. One idea I've seen in other ones is a monthly theme thread, and I definitely think we should incorporate that here.
Anyone have any other ideas? Maybe we should start a thread where people can posts their expectations/hopes/ideas for the forum.

Carl,
I appreciate your work here. I too plan to return to Alaska some day to see the beauty I saw back in 1977 while being stationed at Murphy Dome near Fairbanks. My cousin lived in Eagle RIver and I got a trip down the Kenai to Cook Inlet. Just gorgeous! I'll be watching for great photos!

This was a great idea, surprised it didn't happen sooner. The Last Frontier! I look forward to viewing beautiful images from this majestic state. I hope to make it up there soon. Ron
Well good timing my name is Brenden Mulhern, Sr. I am joining you guys from the Colorado Nature Photographers form. I am in Soldotna, AK till Monday afternoon and then I should be heading to Homer, AK where my wife will be seeking employment down there and if things workout we will stay here in Alaska through fall color change 2009. And then we will continue on the rest of our tour of the lower 48. I am currently trying to redo my web site and online gallery but feel free to contact me at anytime. I am mobility impaired and walk a little slow, but if ever anyone around Homer would like to go out on a shoot I am game. My love is wildlife, but I shoot landscapes and intimate landscapes so if anyone has so recommendations in and around Homer for those things especially wildlife I would love the insider information
Carl,
My name is Dave Switzer and I recently relocated to Juneau, I am an enthusiastic yet novice nature photographer and would enjoy becoming a member of the Alaska Forum.

Hi everyone! I'm popping over from the RMNP forum (although i live in Indiana). I'll be cheking in occasionally since i'm planning to take a trip to your great state within a couple years. If any of you decide to make a trip to Indiana, i'll be happy to help with photo planning ops (though we have more corn and prairie-type land than anything else).

Hi everyone,
So glad to see this forum. I'm a new member to NPN and although I currently live in Oregon, I spend a lot of time in various regions of Alaska every summer on fire assignments for the USFS and BLM. I've been everywhere from Fort Yukon to Tok, Galena to Moose Pass!
I spent 60 days in Tok this summer and was able to explore some new areas around Chicken, Valdez, etc plus my husband joined me for a quick 5 day trip around the interior including a couple days at Denali. Although I have many photos already uploaded to my website, I am going to be busy editing and uploading more for at least another month. :)
I'm looking forward to meeting other AK photographers to share ideas, location suggestions, tips, etc. (Carl, please add me to your list.)
