I am considering purchasing a printer so that I can do my own printing. I have been reading information about the above mentioned printers. One thing that sticks out is the Wilhelm Research showing that the HP Vivera inks last 230+ years on HP papers as opposed to Epson K3 inks lasting 100+ years. I know I won't be around to see any of them fade, but it seems like a major factor. Am I right/wrong?
Both printers will do 13x19 prints.
What do the majority of "you" use and why? Can anyone give me pros and cons either way? What papers would you suggest? (I know Bill Chambers has an Epson R2400 and seems to like it. I have enjoyed the print I got from him!! I know he has drooled at least once over the new Epson 3800 - maybe I can talk him out of his USED R2400. Hmmmm!)
You might want to post this on the digital imaging forum. You might get a better responce.

I bought an Epson 2400 when the only choice was Epson. I was almost completely happy with the printer when the only choice was Epson, but there were some major drawbacks for me when it came to gamut (sp?). My grass is greener theory is that I would be most happy with one of the new HP's, but I could be wrong. The new ink colors in the HP printers solve the problem I have in printing really rich blues and aquas/teals. I know because I've tried the B9180 a couple times. As far as longevity is concerned, I don't think the difference is that important because they already last so much better than alternative color printing methods ever have.
