Hello Everyone,
So I recently purchased a Canon 30D and intend to purchase a 100-400mm IS lens when the funds allow it. I work offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and want to put the entire system (30D, 100-400m, and a 17-85mm) in a Pelican case. I was curious if anyone had any recommendations for a case model that is small and will hold this system. I was looking at the 1300 and 1400 models online so I don’t really know the size of each.
Any suggestions or alternatives please,
Thank you for your time and have a safe and fun New Year.
I use a Pelican case for my underwater photo gear, although many suggest that's a bad idea because it identifies the contents as valuable to airline baggage handlers and results in higher risk of theft. That said mine is larger, a 1600. It works very well but has quickly gotten too small for my stuff. Because of that I'd suggest you consider a larger case since your equipment will probably continue to proliferate just like mine. An alternate idea for you would be a soft case (which could be more easily used in settings other than off shore) supplemented with a dry bag to store it in when taking it places where there is a risk of major water exposure.

Pelicase 1340 holds a 30D, a 10-22mm, 70-200/4 and a 100-400/4.5-5.6 ++ easily
I'm thinking of buying this combination as it is lightweight and very practical
