I have been looking at online photography courses from two sources. One is BetterPhoto and the other is Perfect Picture School of Photography. I am wondering if anyone has experience with either of these groups and can provide some information. Thanks

I took a course from BetterPhoto. It was Tony Sweet's "Fine Art Flower Photography". Tony was a little slow to respond during the 1st 2 weeks because he was on some assignment. But after that it was fine. For me it gave the motivation to experiment with his techniques. The course could be done from his book, but it was good to get feedback from him and the other 8 or so people taking the course. and as I said it gives you the motivation to play with new (to me) techniques. I was on vacation at the time, but it was easy enough to take some time to do the assignments. All the people who took the course when I did seemed to have a good experience..

I teach at PPSOP, so I am biased... but I think we do a really good job based on all the positive and flattering reviews I get from students that have taken my courses (gee talk about blatant self-promotion eh??).

Honestly, I don't think you would go wrong with either school as long as you pick an instructor who produces the kinds of images that you might like to learn from. Darwin www.darwinwiggett.com

Hi Steve,

I've taken courses from both BetterPhoto and PPSOP - although I enjoyed the courses from BetterPhoto - I've learned more in one class from instructors at PPSOP then both courses from BetterPhoto put together!! I can't recommend PPSOP courses enough. I'm currently taking "The Business of Outdoor and Nature Photography" and it is an outstanding course - each lesson is long and full of fantastic info, plus there are also photo tips, excellent critiques and both instructors respond quickly to questions. Lesson, assignments and tips are delivered by PDF files for downloading and/or printing. Videos are also used in the courses which is really an awesome addition.

BetterPhoto is also a great place to learn, but I feel like I get a whole lot more from my money and more personal instruction from PPSOP. I plan to take many more courses, that's for sure!

No matter which one you choose - we should all continue to learn throughout our careers and each person learns in their own way. The best thing is to check both out and see which one might fit you best.
