A dear friend and her husband, who are both Professional photographers in Illinois, (who went to the Galapagos Islands with me last March) are doing a fundraiser to benefit Cystic fibrosis research. Their little 6-month old grandson has been extremely ill and has just gotten this devastating diagnosis.

If anyone cares to contribute an 11x 14 or larger print of a favorite photo and a brief biography (and a card with your name and website, as it will be a great opportunity to get customers) we would all be very grateful.

Below is the letter we are sending out for help. If anyone has questions or concerns please email me at MoonshadowRN@yahoo.com.
thanks to all- Sorry time is a bit short...

Dear Friends,

I am writing to say hello and also to tell you a story.
Earlier this summer I was called to California by my son, Andy, and his wife, Jennifer, to help care for my only grandchild, a sandy haired little boy, named Owen.

Owen was four months old at the time and was very sick.
He had been in Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angles the week before I arrived for a week of tests. Owen was sent home with a diagnosis of "Failure to Thrive." The week that I was there he went downhill fast and became so ill that I was afraid he would die.

Owen entered UCLA Medical Center and one week later he was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). I could not understand how this beautiful little baby boy, my hope for the future, could be a victum of this terrible disease. I was profoundly saddened and for a while immobilized.

In the meantime in Los Angeles Owen was moved to Childrens Hospital which is a Cystic Fibrosis Center. During Owen's seven weeks of hospitalization either Andy or Jennifer was with him every minute of the time, day and night. Now Owen is home and has medical treatments one hour long every morning and evening. We are all learning about very difficult life with CF.

The reality of Owen's serious illness for me was an extremely difficult and emotional time. A fellow photographer suggested a way to become pro-active would be to have a photography fundraiser for Owen's Cystic Fibrosis Medical Fund and Cystic Fibrosis Research.

The fundraiser will be this November 5. We are going to have a Silent Auction of the photographs that have been received from friends across the USA. I am hoping that you might help this cause by sending a photograph. We are hoping to receive your favorite or best photograph(s) by October 15. Please send your photograph(s),11x14 or larger, to the above address. Displayed by each photograph will be a bio, therefore, please include a short paragraph about your photography experience and a photo of yourself, if possible.

I will be so very appreciative if you are able to help us. Please know that 100% of the proceeds will go to Owen's Medical Fund and Cystic Fibrosis Research.

Sincerely,

Barb Edelblute

Hi Sandy - I'll be happy to help. I'll try to get one off this weekend, or by Monday at the latest. So sorry for the diagnosis - must be devastating! I assume we send it directly to Barb's address?

You might also want to post this in the General Discussion forum as it has much greater activity there.

Susan, thank you! Barb and Owen's parents are overwhelmed by the support she is getting from NPN.

I'm NOT quite so overwhelmed - because I know what a great and supportiver group this is, and i knew people would want to help this little guy. We're all very grateful for the response.

Sandy

What if an image is being sent directly from a lab. What would be the best way to get the photographer's Bio information to you?
