I may be in the Fresno area around Oct 11th, any thoughts on the likelihood of getting nice color in the Yosemite area then? Historically, what are the 'normal' (I know it varies a lot!) times colors are at their peak in the Valley?
Fall color in the Valley usaully starts getting good about mid-October. You should see good color in the dogwood and some of the oaks should be showing good color, especially in the upper end of the Valley.
Since you'll be coming from Fresno, be sure to make time to visit the Wawona Grove of Giant Sequoias! You will be blown away!
If you have the time, hop over Tioga Pass to Lee Vining. There are some nice aspen groves there and in Lundy Canyon a few miles to the north. The Yosemite high country and Tuolumne Meadows are not to be missed, if you've not been there before.

Hi Preston,
Thanks very much for your info, I appreciate it! Was in the Valley this spring and would love to hit it in full autumn color.
