A couple weeks ago I hiked to Thousand Island Lake, one of the most beautiful places imaginable. We got a late start so we missed morning light and we didn't get lucky with any lake reflections, but it was a great, although long, day of hiking.
One thing that I noticed with my pictures is that Banner and Ritter have such a dominating presence that all pictures that include them tend to look the same, even with different foregrounds. It was probably mostly my fault, they were so prominent that I pretty much ignored everything else.
I really wanted a reflection shot at Thousand Island Lake though, oh well.
I dId the Rush Creek Trail started at June Lakes over to Devils Postpile .Got to Thousand Island Lake around 11:00 was hand to get a good shot of the lake and Ritter Range

Getting decent reflections at many High Sierra lakes usually requires being there early to mid morning on days when the down and upcanyon breezes null out. Usually just a brief period. I've been to Thousand Island Lake several times. Most days the World Class views from east shores don't calm up because it is so exposed without blocking terrain. One determined to be successful would be wise to basecamp there for a few days to help those odds. For day hikers leaving after sunrise, it is just too far away to get there at the 8am to 9am time when a null is more likely to occur. ...David

I'll have to look into going there someday. Having the luxury of acclimatizing would help...
