My new PC has finally arrived

First, thanks very much to everyone who helped me in the choice! I've gone for an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 with 2GB of RAM (2x1GB) and 19" Eizo LCD screen and I love it...it is blazingly fast

I have a couple of questions:

1- RAW and Adobe Bridge: with my older computer I never used brigde because it is too slow...now it works fine, but I can not see the thumbnails of 350D's RAW files...the Camera RAW plug-in is updated to version 3.1 and PS CS2 opens the files without any problem. What can I do to "update" Bridge, to make it show the RAWs?

2- Printing: so far I've been pretty sloppy about printing - a friend has a photo lab and he printed my photos for free ;-)
I recently received a Canon IP8500 printer as gift and now I want to start printing by myself...
My question: I want to make borderless prints, so, after resizing the photo at 300dpi, I select print and then I "borderless" in the printing window. When I select this option, I get an alert message that says that the image will be enlarged and slighly cropped.
Is it the right procedure? Or should I resize the image slightly larger than the actual print size to get a borderless print?

Thanks for your help :wavey:

Ok - I've found an answer to the first question, I just needed to update Bridge to the latest version (1.0.4).

I'll appreciate any help about question 2!

Juza, congratulations on the new electronics. You will enjoy the speed and ease os use the new stuff gives you.

RE the borderless question - No do not resize to avoid the message. There is a slight overlap, but not noticable. I have been using a Canon i9900 for a few years and found I do move the slider option to the left one notch to reduce overlap slightly. If I move it 2 notches I get ink on the paper edges the real thin edge (like the sharp dege of a razor) not on the printed surface itself. However, I don't like the ink being there so I only move the slider one notch to the left.

Only issue I have with borderless prints on the i9900 is that when there are smooth BGs the trailing edge of the print gets a faint blurred change in print quality that is about 3 mm wide. Canon says this is normal. I am hoping their newer printers eliminate this issue. However it only shows up on the occasional print with very smooth BGs.

Enjoy your new toys. :wavey:
