I'm looking for something that will allow basic accounting, inventory tracking, customer databasing and mailing label printing. Anything cover all or most of this? I want to be able to send mailings to customers easily and track print inventory.

My accountant wants me to start using QuickBooks from Quicken. As I understand it will do all of the things that you request.

I use QuickBooks Pro 2005, which will meet your requirements.

We've used one version or another of Quicken for the last 16 years. Our records and tax filing are fairly complex, involving two other businesses in addition to our photo business plus our personal finances, but the Quicken software makes it easy to keep records and track changes. Our CPA loves the results, which make his job easy and cheap for us. We submit a stack of paper to him nearly two inches thick, and he produces our federal tax filing, which can be as thick as half an inch in some years. You would think it would cost a bundle for him to work with that volume of info, but even though his hourly rate is high, his fees for prepping our tax filing have never topped $500. That makes the investment in Quicken one of the best bargains out there!

My wife is our business manager and has lots of prior experience with bookkeeping programs. She says Quicken is the best of the bunch, both for ease of use and flexibility. She also says that it works best if you take the time to make your entries monthly or weekly, depending on the volume. Put it off till the end of the tax year, and it will be just as painful as anything else you have ever tried.

Another vote for Quickbooks.
