The good news is that the current governor is trailing badly behind his opponent in polls leading up to the Republican primary. Don't know about the opponent's record on McNeil, but anything is better than the atmosphere up here right now.

Current governor drew a whopping 18% in his own primary, topped by a former legislator (30%) and a young charismatic former mayor of Wasilla (51%). General election will face her off with two-time former dem governor Tony Knolls. Change is definitely in the wind, but the details won't emerge till well after the first shot is fired.
