Hi,
I just joined NP, thanks to Anil pointing me to this site.
Currently, I mostly take nature and climbing photographs, and mostly in CA. I have been posting in rock.climbing.com for photo reviews, but unfortunately the critics there don't bring much and I feel do not allow me to improve.
I have improved my eye somewhat to take decent photos, and on occasions I get a very nice photo, but still I feel I waste most of my opportunities. When I look at the "Editor's Picks Gallery" I am jealous .
My other problem is when I look at my shots, I can't tell which ones stand out: They all look very average to me.
I usually use an 8MPix Olympus EVolt E300:
It is dirt cheap, and works very well as an SLR. The lenses are basic but cover a 28-300mm range in 2 light zooms, and the body is narrow and light, which is ultra important to me when I have to haul this up a wall. This was an impulse buy because I needed a camera for a trip...
I was originally planning on getting an EOS + 100-400 IS zoom solution but could not buy it in time. My only regret is the lack of IS which forces me often to underexpose to get a sharp shot. Also the camera's ISO setting must be set and locked to 100 because of its tiny CCD.
Anyhow, below is my first review post, taken with a point and shoot HP camera. It works surprisingly well. My only gripe is in fine mode it tends to be "processing" when I have an action shot to take @#$!. I will not comment on what I think of the shot as I want unbiased reviews.

Included is the type of climbing photo I'm working to get right, but you won't see that here as it's not CA and not "natural"
Nice to see you here at CANP.
Regards.

As Anil says, it's nice to see you here! We hope you'll post images and jpoin in the discussions.
I would also like to encourage you to become a paid member of NPN. Given the benefits of the membership, it is a real bargain!
We encourage posting of "man-in-nature' images (like climbing shots) and also images from outside California.
Best regards,
_PB
