WATER LILY SHOOT
I think we all had a good time even with the so-so light and the 105 degree temps in the greenhouse!

Lets try this again next year!

Thanks to all who showed up!

Jack - well seen. Hot and humid, pasty light (3:00 PM was more to blame than anything). Despite all that, I had a good time and got a shot or 2. What I salvaged is at http://boku.smugmug.com/gallery/1746171

Nice work setting this up!
Thanks,

The Waterlily appears almost to melt into the green background. Sweet shot, Jack!

Jack I love the way the lily fuses into the background. Nice! I had fun just going and shooting some but it was equally nice to meet everyone.

Hello! Well, I had a good time at the shoot. I think I lost about 10lbs in the greenhouse but I got some great shots too. It was really nice meeting everyone and finally seeing faces to the names. This is one of my favorites from the shoot and hopefully I will have the rest on my webpage soon (www.wild-woodphotography.com).

Tammy,

This is a very nice ( I sent you an email on Helicon Focus today). yes its was a hot one.
Your DOF is really good here and you really found a good specimen to shoot. To be really picky, I would crop just below the stem on the bottom and probably enough off the left side to get rid of that yellow leaf. My eye tends to go to the brightest area and is distracted by the bright yellow. Also when I crop leaves ( which I really don't mind as you can tell if you look at lots of my flora shots) I usually wither crop both sides or I don't crop at all. here you have one side cropped, another not.

these are pretty picky suggestions. I really like the DOF, color and above all your fortitude considering the conditions.

I never really noticed that yellow leaf in the corner but now that you mention it, it does distract a bit. Your suggetions weren't picky, actually I like the new version of it better. Thanks. Let me know what you think.

I wanted to share these little gems as well. They are called Snowflake Waterlilies and they are very small. I hope you like them.

Tammy,

You did a great job with the revised image. 5 stars!!

I like the 2nd image too. The 2 little buds compliment the 2 flowers!. Usually I try to keep things in 1's, 3's 5's 7's etc but this works fine!
