Cuckoo Bumblebee

Bombus rupestris, a species of Cuckoo Bumblebee, on Altai Onion (Allium altaicum; garden specimen).

This species looks very much like her hostess species, the Red-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus lapidarius). However, unlike her hostess, B. rupestris has
- no pollen basket on the back leg
- only sparse fur on the abdomen
- very dark-coloured wings.
