When I walk the beach I always look for interesting rock, sand, or shadow forms near the waters edge. This image of "rock masks" was taken on (none other than) Inverness Beach, Nova Scotia, Canada in October 2006. The light and shadows on this rock form caught my eye at low tide. The masks were partially covered by sand and pebbles and partially hidden in the shadows of some larger rocks. It is as I found it and was formed by the action of the waves and tide. It reminded me of jester or harlequin masks.
