Highway 101 crosses the Siuslaw River at Florence, Oregon. Old Town Florence ferried passengers across the river until 1936 when the bridge was built. Florence is the gateway to the Oregon Dunes Recreational Area. Footprints follow the river west to the dunes and the Pacific Ocean beyond.
