One of the first waterfalls heading east on the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Byway, Latourell Falls was named for Joseph Latourell in the late 1800's. The 249 foot falls cascades over a basalt outcropping that give the image the unique patterns along with the lichen and moss that covers parts of the basalt.
