The ruins of Ardvreck Castle sit on a narrow peninsula on Loch Assynt. Built by Angus Mor III in the 15th century, Ardvreck Castle was the seat of the MacLeods of Assynt until taken by the MacKenzies of Wester Ross in 1672. Scene of much violence and intrigue during its life, the castle is reputed to be haunted by many ghosts. - Sutherland, Scotland, UK
