I surprised this Crested Caracara (Caracara cheriway)at the Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge near Lake Jackson, Texas. I shot this from my car hurriedly and handheld before he took off running very fast into the grass. These birds will eat snakes, lizards, and other live prey as well as carrion.
