This photograph was taken at sunrise of Mono Lake at Lee Vining, in the Eastern Sierra Nevada, California. As the sunlight first strikes the tufa towers on the lake, the effect seems magical, and incredibly beautiful. These tufa towers form when underwater calcium springs mix with the lake rich in carbonates.
