Lochnagar's flat summit plateau is edged on the NE by steep cliffs, permitting large cornices to develop in spring. It is a statement of the obvious to say that it is unwise to walk out on to these overhangs, but a protruding rock provided reassurance for the photo, which was taken at the end of April, quite late for cornices of this size.
