Common Whitetail ~ Libellula lydia (male)

They're called 'common' but for me anyway, rather difficult to get a good shot of. They seem to me to be a skittish dragonfly and they seem perch preferrably on logs, etc. rather than reeds. This is one of the few times that I saw one not on a big piece of wood. Their body is so broad you can see them breathe, with their abdomen visibly expanding and contracting as they rest.
