This Great Blue heron at the Venice Rookery in Florida was stealing sticks from another heron nest, bringing sticks back for its mate. I love the way the heron is poised mid ait with the stick in its beak, like a peace offering. This was taken, on a tripod, with a Canon 20D and a Canon 500mm f4 IS lens. AV mode 1/2000 sec, f8 -2/3 exposure compensation.
