Mollusks

Keywords: shell, snail, mollusk, NZ carnivorous snail

This is NZ's only carnivorous snail. Empty shells are washed out of the bush by heavy rain. The inside is a beautiful pale blue; the outer shell is a glossy brown. Live snails are still to be found in the native bush.
