Stocking up

Groton, CT (May 12, 2004) – ET3 (SS) Joseph Robins drops a box of butter down to EM2 Josh Smith during a stores onload onboard USS Alexandria (SSN 757) at Naval Submarine Base New London. Unlike on a surface ship, the only way to bring stores onto a submarine is through the escape trunks. Alexandria’s crew onloaded approximately 40,000 pounds of canned, frozen and dry foods in preparation for the possibility of getting underway for at least 90 days.
