Getting underway

Aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) at sea (April 14, 2000) – Boatswain’s Mates from USS Kitty Hawk’s (CV 63) Deck Department’s 2nd Division launch the Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) April 14, to conduct coxswain qualifications. The boatswain’s mates took advantage of a lull in flight operations to work on the critical qualifications for Hawk’s upcoming port visits. During port visits, the RHIB is often used to make mail and supply runs to the beach. It also serves as the read lifeboat.
