Aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) at sea (June 5, 2001) – Two C-2A Greyhound carry-on delivery (COD) aircraft from Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 30 Detachment 5 move into stopping position on the aft end of USS Kitty Hawk’s (CV 63) flight deck. The Greyhounds are used to transport supplies, parts, troops and mail between the ship and shore. Aircraft landing on the flight deck wore down the nonskid surface. During the upcoming ship’s restricted availability, contractors will apply fresh nonskid to 26,000 square feet of the flight deck.
