Courtship Ritual of Two King Penguins

This is ritual is performed by a mating pair. I followed this pair of King Penguins for over an hour as the courted and nuzzled before mating. Taken in January on South Georgia Island. I placed this photograph in the "Digital Composite/Illustration" category because I added blue to the sky. This photograph won first place in the wildlife division of the 1998 Annual contest of Nature's Best photography magazine. I put this image in the "Digital Composite/Illustration" category becuase I deepened the blue of the sky.
