The stone circle at Callanish is considered one of the finest, if not ‘the’ finest in Europe. On this early autumnal morning, there was just enough sunshine to bring out the warm tones of the Lewisian gneiss of which these imposing standing stones were made.

The long 95 second exposure (courtesy of using a very dark neutral density filter) has given the moving clouds an ethereal feel which seems well suited to the location.
