Nature is my first love, photography is my second. Together they are the perfect marriage of work and pleasure, a way of life rather than a job title or career. I started taking pictures when I was seven years old. I wanted to emulate the work of the photographers whose images I faithfully cut from National Geographic and National Wildlife to hang on my bedroom wall. I was drawn to their art like a moth to a flame and whatever practical jobs I’ve used to pay the rent, photography has always been part of my life.
In recent years, I’ve been able to pursue photography professionally and have sold my work as prints, calendars, and cards through my website. I have also sold stock photographs to magazines such as Grit (a magazine for family farms), The Ozark Chronicles, and Hobby Farms Magazine. My photographic art has been used as illustrations in two published books: Drinking Shadows, a book of nature essays, and Snow is Coming, a children’s book now available on Amazon.com.
My nature portfolio contains a wide range of photographs that includes wildlife, birds, flowers, landscapes, and skyscapes from the Midwestern United States, the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota, and the Desert Southwest. I also have a large selection of rural life photographs taken here on our family farm in Missouri.
Many of my photos are available as prints, note cards, and in my 2012 Nature Calendar and 2012 Farm Calendar via my zazzle.com store called "Croft Hollow." If you are interested in prints not listed there, please contact me by email.
