Having grown up in a large city and working as a physicist most of his life, Walt was never in tune with nature until about 8 years ago, when he bought a Canon A2E SLR and started exploring Michigan, his adopted home state. He still shoots 35 mm film with his two Canon EOS 3's, especially Kodachrome E100VS, Fuji Velvia 100 and Provia 400. Favorite subjects are birds, especially warblers, but his portfolio also includes wildlife, macro, landscapes and some architectural subjects like lighthouses. The perfect image for Walt has a painterly quality: simple, yet bold and colorful. He now travels North America on photo tours, but he also loves everyday subjects, encountered on daily nature walks in his home town of Ann Arbor. Walt is active in the Outdoor Photography Association of Michigan(OPAM, http://www.opam.com) and markets his work at his Internet Web Site under the name Blue Loon Photography.
