It is hard to believe that I have been interested in photography for over 50 years. I started out with my parents giving me a Kodak Baby Brownie camera that used 127 film. My interest in astronomy, when I was young, may have helped me perfect my photography and natural light skills. My first SLR camera (a Kowaflex) used screw on wideangle and telephoto lenses similar to what the Nikon Cookpix cameras use today. I used that camera for documenting the 64/65 NY World’s fair.
My interest in photography really developed (pun on words) when Time-Life introduced their book series on Photography. After completing the New York Institute Professional Photography course, I was able to start a semi-pro business in Industrial and model photography about 20 years ago.
Since joining the New Haven Camera Club in 1996, my skills in nature and travel photography have really grown exponentially. I presently enjoy travel, infrared, bird, macro and underwater photography with Nikon digital equipment.
With the introduction of the Nikon D200, I now have switch over completely to digital photography. I enjoy experimenting with new techniques to bring film photography into the digital age. Some examples are doing infrared photography with the D100, using a PC lense for Panorama’s, and the Nikon Creative Lighting System for macro work.
