Photography gives me a very welcome excuse to get out there and spend time in a variety of natural environments. I take exclusively British wildlife and especially enjoy using macro lenses to allow myself to get ‘up close and personal’ with photographic subjects. Dragonflies are a particular passion of mine, as are our threatened red squirrels. In my photographic work I endeavour to portray something of my deep respect for, and fascination with, the natural world. I was delighted to win the 2004 BBC News Website Photographer of the Year competition.
