I have enjoyed outdoor photography for many years now. I originally became interested in photography while I was in the military stationed in the state of Alaska. As I was a complete novice in the field of outdoor photography back in those days, my images were geared toward a travel log of my journeys around the entire state more so then any real outdoor landscape photography. At that time the equipment and film selection to me was how cheaply could it be purchased for, and in the end most images proved that out. Nothing but high grain images was the ending result, however, the compositions were not too bad. I started working with an old time ex-field photographer for the Argosy Magazine back then who used a Medium Format Hassleblad. He and I worked on the same Engineering crew back in those days and he really opened my eyes up to the possibilities of what film emulsions could truly capture.
Today most all of my images are from the southwestern states. I find this area to be very diverse in photographic opportunities ranging from barren lower desert scenes to high altitude alpine vistas and everything in-between. As I have always worked toward my completed product as large prints, I have used Medium and Large Format gear throughout the image capture process.
