I am a trade association executive living and working in northern Virginia with a passion for our world's natural beauty and a unique eye for sharing my vision of our world with others in my life. I have been interested in photography since very early in my life, but never pursued it even as a serious hobby until about 10 years ago. I purchased my first digital camera about 12 years ago. Two years later, I purchased an "advanced" Olympus C-5000 Zoom, with a few basic DSLR features. About 2006, I purchased my first true DSLR camera, an Olympus E-500 with 14-42 mm and 40-150 mm kit lenses. After many months of reading and self-training, my passion emerged. I have since owned a few more DSLRs, including an Olympus E-520, E-30, and E-5 with wireless flash, accessories, and several additions to my Zuiko lens collection. I have broadened my interests to include nature, landscapes, portrait, product and collectible imaging, history, and art photography. In addition to outdoor work, I have studio equipment, including lighting and backdrops, that I can set up for portrait and product photography, either at at my new studio or on location. I shot my first weddings in November, 2009 and in July, 2011- both very valuable learning experience for which I remain grateful to the brides and grooms!
My "day job" does not permit me extensive quantities of time to pursue my photography passion, but I often carry my camera with me on business trips, especially to interesting locations in North America and other locations around the world. My favorite places for photographs include Maine, Virginia, western Michigan, California, and the Pacific Northwest, but my camera and I continue to discover new places and faces to photograph.
At this time, my objectives are to share the beauty of the world with my family, friends and supporters, but I am interested in expanding into offering stock photographs and professional photography, including portrait, product, and collectible work. I have a studio in the Vint Hill section of Fauquier County, Virginia. Contact me for more information. My artistic objective is to capture as much of my subjects' natural characteristics as is possible with my cameras, thereby minimizing the amount of post-production editing of my photographs; thus, my motto, "Natural Photography for the Natural World."
