My specialty is the Oregon Coast. I have been using a digital camera for a little more than a year. I am still fish-tailing around the learning curve. I prefer to shoot surf, but most of my captures occur in my yard. I have been a steady contributor to Oregon Coast Magazine for several years. I have contributed covers, photoessays, stand-alones, and calendar pages. Having several shots used in Audubon calendars is the pinnacle of my success. Photographically, I am an omnivore with landscape, macro, and wildlife material in my files. What you see here is the tip of the iceberg because most of my work is on film and I have not been able to afford a scanner that I respect. I use lightroom for my editing. I have recently obtained a refurbished Epson 2400 inkjet printer.
Many years ago, I was a birder. One day it occurred to me that I could do my birding with a telephoto lens and take a picture as well. What followed was a sizable collection of fuzzy feathered fiends on Ektachrome 200 slides. After several years of this, I tried the 50mm lens with Kodachrome and said aloud, "Well this is different", and gradually transitioned to photography from birding. I'll still click on a bird, however, if one pops up within range.
I reside in Astoria, Oregon near the Mouth of the Columbia River. It's a good place to watch the clouds and ships go by. I graduated from Humboldt State University with a B.S. in Wildlife Management. I like to share and give advice about your visit to the Oregon Coast. If there is anything else you would like to know about me, ask me I guess.
