I am a wildlife biologist who specializes in herpetology. Not surprisingly, many of my photographic subjects are amphibians and reptiles. However, I try to cover many aspects of nature photography. Besides amphibians and reptiles, I enjoy photographing many other kinds of wildlife, including insects, birds, mammals, and even plants.
Landscapes also figure prominently in my work. Over the last year or so, I've been dabbling in color to B&W conversions. I find that certain images work better in B&W than in color. The trick is to find those special images and be able to visualize what the effect will be so that I don't waste time working with images that are best left alone.
I currently use a Canon Digital Rebel that I bought in 2003 shortly after that digital SLR hit the market and broke the under $1000 barrier. For many years prior to that I used a Canon T-90 35mm camera. I still have several large boxes full of slides that I am gradually going through and digitizing the select few among them that are worthy.
I hope that some of you who view this portfolio will feel inspired enough to post comments or send an e-mail. Although I have been an amateur photographer for may years, I have only shared my work with a small circle of friends.
