Mark Hilliard
N/TPN 1772
Carolina Wildlife
Mark is retired from Eastman Kodak and lives in the Low Country of South Carolina where he travels up and down the ICW from North Carolina to Florida searching out unique portraits in nature.
When asked about his philosophy on nature photography he says: “I tend to concentrate on the smaller, secret side of nature that most people overlook, a different view on the world that surrounds us each and every day. I work in color but, black and white has a special place in my heart and tends to show a different view of things we pass by every day. I look at my photographs as portraits of nature rather than a picture and will spend hours with a single subject.”
Mark was disabled in the early 1980's with the development of a spinal disease that has considerably slowed him down and extreamly limited his movement and time in the field. Aside from this world class imposition on his strength and ability to walk, he has tried to spend as much of his "good time" behind the lenses of his cameras. As a result, he takes many fewer photographs but strives for higher quality over quantity.
