I graduated with an honours degree in Ecology in 1979, but have had a long standing interest in birdwatching before this.
I have a keen interest in practical environmental conservation. I have undertaken many RSPB and Naturalist Trust conservation working holidays. I was Chairman of the Berkshire Conservation Volunteers from 1983 to 1986 and an active member of the Theale Area Bird Consevation Group from 1993 to 2003.
I started photography in 1969 with a Zenith B, handheld Weston light meter and Russian 135 lens. In 1973 I bought a Pentex ME and over the years remained loyal to Pentax. In late 2003 I finally made the decision to swap systems to Canon after realising this was some 20 years too late. Currently also shooting with the Olympus 4/3rds system
